I love manipulating yarns and the fibres that go into the making of yarns. When I need to relax nothing works better than sitting at one of my two spinning wheels and whirling away. Time disappears marked now only in the growing mound on the bobbin. My spinning is becoming more experimental in that I'm looking for non-traditional bits to add just to see what happens on the wheel.
Cut up dyed silk cocoons, angelina, firestar and lately cut ribbons of scrounged silk ties spun with wool, mohair or alapaca in any combination produce some colourfully textured yarns. Some suitable for knitting and some more suited to necklaces and scarves. I never know when another tangent is going to strike.
